Your Date, Your Rules: These plans are just a starting point for your date night. Feel free to tweak, change, or totally make it your own. It’s all about what works best for you!
In this home date idea, it is the classic romance night with a unique twist. Think about what makes a romantic atmosphere: picture things like glowing candles, twinkling fairy lights, white or beige tablecloths, lovely flowers, nice smells or perfume, slow dancing, fancy clothes like a button-down shirt or dress, a clean and fresh environment, a little champagne, and the sweet sound of violin music.
This date concept aims to be simple, affordable, romantic, classy, and thoroughly enjoyable.
STEPS FOR THE CLASSIC ROMANCE NIGHT WITH A TWIST DATE NIGHT IDEA
STEP 1 – Invitation:
Choose a time and date. Extend an invitation to your significant other, providing a few days’ notice to build anticipation.
Specify the dress code: Opt for something classic and classy – think a dress or a button-down shirt.
Set a start time and mark it in the calendar.
STEP 2 – Planning:
Plan the menu.
Here are some ideas for a classic romantic meal:
- Champagne (or sparkling apple juice for a non-alcoholic option).
- Option 1: Chicken Caesar salad (a classic date meal – you can also buy it from the supermarket).
- Crusty bread and pesto dip on the side.
- Dessert: Chocolate and strawberries.
- Option 2: Chicken slow-cooked with sundried tomato and cream.
- Garden salad on the side with bread.
- Dessert: cheese platter and strawberries.
Note: Consider dietary needs and food preferences.
Choose a charming location for your dinner at home. Idea: sit at your outside table, in the fresh air on the patio/deck/balcony.
Decorate the location with twinkly/fairy lights and/or candles. (Ensure fire safety precautions.)
Set the table with a tablecloth (if you have a plain-coloured one – white, cream, or beige). Otherwise, ensure the table is clean.
Pick flower from garden and arrange it in a vase.
Optional: you might want to buy a small box of chocolates as token gift.
Pen a note expressing your excitement for the upcoming date and leave it on their pillow the night before.

Tidy the house. It doesn’t need to be flawless, but ensure no dirty socks are in sight.
Limit interruptions – Ensure minimal interruptions during the date, if possible. Such as limit/remove phone time.
Take a shower to smell nice before the date.
STEP 3 – the date
Start the date with drinks in the nice table setting, with mood lighting.

- Do you think that chicken is a romantic food? Why or why not?
- Which do you think is the most romantic instrument – saxophone, violin, flute or piano?
- Which would you prefer to smell – coffee beans or perfume or fresh cut grass?
- Do you think it would be more romantic to share a kiss in front of the Eiffel Tower or Buckingham Palace or by the Sydney Harbour?
Once finished with drinks (don’t rush), it is dinner time.

If you need to cook for a few minutes, set your spouse/partner up with a chair nearby and ask them to share a special memory from this month or what has made them laugh hardest recently. (remember fire safety re candles)

- What has been our most romantic date?
